Overview
Chronus AI Settings is where you govern, configure, and enable AI-powered features across your organization. The more context you give the AI about your programs and participants, the better everything it generates will be.
AI Settings is available to Global Admins at the global level and to Program Admins at the program level. AI features are turned on and off at the program level — the global-level page is for governance, visibility, and shared preferences.
Navigate to: Manage → Program Configuration → Chronus AI
How Enablement Works
Chronus AI is a paid add-on. Once purchased, enablement follows three steps:
Chronus provisions AI — Chronus enables the AI package for your organization, unlocking the AI Settings page.
Global Admin enables AI — Your Global Admin turns on Chronus AI at the global level and accepts the Terms & Conditions. This is the master switch.
Program Admin enables features — Program Admins enable individual AI features per program from the program-level AI Settings page.
Note: Program Admins can view the AI Settings page at any time, but cannot take action until the Global Admin has completed step 2.
Global-Level AI Settings
Enable Chronus AI (Master Switch) — Must be turned on before any program-level features can be enabled. The Global Admin will be prompted to accept the Chronus AI Terms & Conditions.
Profile Permissions — Controls which user profile fields AI is allowed to read when generating personalized content. More fields permitted means higher quality, more personalized output across all features. Configure thoughtfully — only permit fields appropriate for AI to use. Certain sensitive fields (such as ethnicity, health, or financial data) are permanently excluded.
AI Feature Status (Read-Only) — Shows which AI features are enabled across programs. To change a feature, go to that program's AI Settings page.
AI Meeting Guides Preferences — Set default style and vocabulary preferences for AI-generated meeting guides. These apply to all programs unless overridden at the program level. See Configuring AI Meeting Guides Preferences below.
Program-Level AI Settings
Navigate to: Manage → Program Configuration → Chronus AI (inside any program)
Describe the people participating in this program — This is the single biggest lever on output quality. A sentence or two about who participates and what the program is for makes a meaningful difference across all AI features.
Example: "Early-career employees paired with senior leaders for 6-month career development mentoring."
Enabling AI Features
Each AI feature is enabled with a toggle. Availability depends on program type and whether dependencies are met. If a toggle appears greyed out, hovering over it will show the reason.
Feature | Program Types | Enabled By | Dependencies |
AI Game Plan | All programs (excluding Circles and Connection Communities) | Chronus Support (CSM-assisted) | Game Plan feature must be on |
AI-Guided Connection Goals | 1:1 and Group Mentoring | Program Admin | None required; AI Game Plan recommended |
AI Meeting Guides | All programs | Program Admin | End user-driven Guided Conversations required for automatic recommendations (1:1). Not required for Generate with AI. |
AI Meeting Notetaker | 1:1 programs in Mentoring, Peer, and Flash (not supported for 3rd-role enabled programs) | Program Admin | Chronus Video Call must be enabled; AI access to "Name" profile field required |
For details on each feature, see: AI Game Plan · AI-Guided Connection Goals · AI Meeting Guides · AI Meeting Notetaker
Disabling AI Features
Disabling a feature shows a confirmation modal explaining what will happen. For most features, previously generated content is preserved — the feature simply stops generating new output. Two exceptions:
AI Game Plan — Turn Off All Game Plan Functionality is destructive: it removes configuration, summaries, and user progress (profile answers are preserved). There is also a non-destructive option — Turn Off AI-Enhancement — which keeps all Game Plan data intact. A second confirmation is required for the destructive option.
AI Meeting Notetaker — Previously generated notes will no longer be accessible (the notes tab will not be visible). However, any actions participants already took, such as tasks created from suggested next steps, will persist.
Configuring AI Meeting Guides Preferences
Available at both global and program level — program-level settings override global defaults.
Style and Tone — Professional or Friendly
Language and Vocabulary — preferred terms, terms to avoid, and brand substitutions (e.g. "always use 'Firm' instead of 'Company'")
Role-play scenarios and activities — include or exclude AI-suggested scenarios in generated guides
Use Create Sample Guide to preview output using your current preferences before going live. Guides will work with defaults, but customizing preferences meaningfully improves how well they match your organization's voice.
Improving AI Output Quality
Before enabling features, we recommend:
Describe your participants — program-level Chronus AI page. The single biggest lever on quality.
Allow profile fields — global-level Profile Permissions. More fields = more personalized output.
Configure Meeting Guides preferences — global-level. Set tone and vocabulary so guides match your voice from day one.
Note: Your organization's industry is also used by the AI to tailor output — this is configured by your Chronus team during setup. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager with questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I only enable AI features at the program level?
AI features are scoped to specific program types and use cases. Program-level enablement ensures each program is configured intentionally and that Program Admins retain control.
Will changing global-level preferences overwrite my program-level settings?
No. Program-level preferences are sticky — global changes only apply to programs that haven't been customized.
Do I need to configure AI Settings before enabling features?
Features work with defaults, but output quality is meaningfully better when you complete the steps in Improving AI Output Quality above.
Why is a feature toggle greyed out?
Hover over it to see the reason. Common causes: Chronus AI isn't enabled at the global level, a required dependency (like Chronus Video Call or Guided Conversations) isn't on, or the feature isn't supported for that program type.
Where can I learn about Chronus's AI data and privacy practices?
See the Chronus AI Policy for full details.
