7/2026 - Connection Certificates: New Survey Criteria

Build certificate criteria that match the engagement your program measures.

Certificates are how participants carry their mentoring experience forward: into a performance review, a LinkedIn profile, a conversation about what's next.

Until now, earning a Connection Certificate was based on task completion. But in many programs, the clearest signal that someone showed up and did the work is the feedback they gave along the way. Admins can now award connection completion certificates based on survey completion, either on its own or alongside task completion.

Applicable For

  • Programs using Connection Certificates

  • Survey criteria require the connection's Plan Template(s) to include engagement surveys for the selected eligible role

  • No action needed for existing programs, task-only certificate configurations continue to work exactly as they do today

How It Works

Admin Experience

A stackable criteria builder. The rewarding section of a certificate configuration is now a list of criteria rows rather than a single task field. Use Add criterion to build rules such as WHEN Tasks 80% of tasks completed AND Surveys All surveys completed. Each criterion type (Tasks or Surveys) can be used once per configuration.

A plain-English summary as you build. A live summary line restates the rule as it's edited — for example, "Award the certificate when a participant has 80% of tasks completed, and all surveys completed at connection closure" — so admins can confirm intent without interpreting the builder.

Tasks criterion. Set the required completion percentage (1–100%). Helper text clarifies that tasks include all checklist items in the connection plan, including survey tasks.

Surveys criterion, with two modes.

  • All surveys - every engagement survey in the connection plan must be completed

  • Specific surveys - select one or more surveys from a multi-select, scoped to the chosen role and selected plan template(s)

Guardrails that protect live configurations.

  • Task percentage must fall between 1–100%, and Specific surveys requires at least one selection

  • A clear warning appears when no surveys exist for the selected role and template combination

  • Switching template scope to All Templates automatically resets a Specific-surveys selection to All surveys, with a toast explaining why

  • A survey task can't be modified or deleted, and the engagement-survey feature can't be disabled, while referenced as a certificate criterion (both show an explanatory error naming the affected configurations).

Updated email tags. The certificate assigned email gains a criteria_summary_html tag, which renders the full list of configured criteria, and a surveys_required tag. These replace the task-only task_completion_percentage tag.

Participant Experience

Survey progress on the certificate panel. Participants now see a Surveys completed progress item, with a completed/total count and individual survey names on hover — alongside the existing Tasks completed item, so they always know where they stand.

Messaging that reflects every criterion. Eligibility notices and the certificate-earned email now describe all completion criteria rather than tasks alone, pointing participants to the full list of what's required.

Release Certification

This release has undergone rigorous testing to ensure its reliability and efficacy, particularly concerning the multi-criteria certificate configuration and survey completion tracking. Validation covers criteria configuration and editing, dependency protection for referenced surveys and survey tasks, backward compatibility for existing task-only configurations, and accurate progress reporting on the participant certificate panel. We are proud to report that the release has been thoroughly tested and certified by Chronus. This certification signifies our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality for our users.
