Measuring Progress on Goals
Updated over 7 months ago

Introduction

If you are running a training, coaching, or otherwise outcome-oriented program, you may wish to set goals and track outcomes. You can track goals in one of two ways:

  1. Assessed completion by the coach or mentor

  2. Completion of tasks corresponding to a goal

Assessed completion by the coach or mentor

If you prefer that mentors and coaches use their own judgement to gauge progress, do the following:

  1. Ask your Chronus representative to enable Manual Progress.

  2. Upon confirmation, modify tasks and other content in the template per usual.

  3. Set up at least one goal for your template. In the following example, the admin has mandated competency development for all connections. This goal spans all milestones.

There is no further action needed.

Once connected, the mentor or coach may assess progress on a goal as many times as desired throughout the course of the partnership. Coaches assess progress on a scale from 1%-100%, adding a comment each time.

The following graphic shows how this looks to the mentor or coach. In this example, the coach has left a previous assessment of 80% along with a note. Notice that the coach can click "Update" to the right of the progress bar to newly assess completion.

Completion of tasks corresponding to a goal

If you prefer to measure goal completion according to its associated tasks, do the following:

  1. Ask your Chronus representative to enable Task-based Progress.

  2. Upon confirmation, modify tasks and other content in the template per usual.

  3. Set up at least one goal for your template.

  4. Map individual tasks to their corresponding goals. In the following example, a task to complete product training is mapped to the goal of familiarizing with the org's culture.

Now, as coaches and coachees check off tasks that pertain to certain goals, their progress will automatically be tracked against those goals.

In both modes of goal-assessment, the admin will be able to track progress on goals from the Mentoring Connections tool.
