Introduction
Flag Content is an optional feature that can be enabled by admins to allow users to raise concerns about content uploaded by other users. When end users have been given the option to upload and share content, the 'Flag Content' feature will help ensure that the content users are sharing aligns to your organization's code of conduct as well as your program objectives.
Who it's for: Customers running open mentorship platforms in academia or other types of open enrollment programs that allow a broad population of users to opt in.
Why it matters: Questionable, user-uploaded content can disrupt your program by compromising a sense of safety for others. With this feature, users are empowered to alert admins so that they can take appropriate actions. Follow-up actions by admins to resolve or delete content reiterates that your program is a safe space and discourages further uploading of inappropriate content. A safe and supportive environment will motivate engagement and retention on the platform.
There is another feature which allows the user to flag/report users (vs. content) that may need to be removed from the platform. Click here for information: User Flagging: Empower Users to Flag Other Users

Flagging Posts in Forums:
Forums: If forums are offered in your program, users can access and click on the forum in the side bar menu; they will then have the option to 'Join Forum' or 'Leave Forum' via the green button on the upper right.
An original forum post that starts a conversation, such as the two shown below, cannot be reported. However, replies within that particular forum conversation can be reported.
To report a forum conversation reply:
Step 1: View Conversations
The user clicks on their forum in the menu bar to view the list of conversations by title.
Step 2: Open Selected Conversation
The user can click on either the title, the 'Posts' or the 'Views' button to open a conversation and view other user replies.
Step 3: Report Content
Once a conversation is open, the user can view individual replies made to the forum conversation and click on the dropdown arrow to 'Report Content'.
Step 4: Provide Reason
Clicking on 'Report Content' will open a dialog box for the user provide their reason and click 'Report'.
The system will provide the following pop-up confirmation message:
Once a reply has been reported, the 'Report Content' button is disabled and replaced by a 'Reported' label, indicating to other users that this reply has already been flagged by a user. The reported content will remain in the forum thread until the admin takes action to either 'Resolve' or 'Delete' the content.
Flagging Posts in Advice:
The process for reporting content within both of the Advice features is the same as it is for Forums as illustrated above. The user clicks to report content and provides a reason. The 'Report Content' button is now disabled and re-labeled as 'Reported', but the content will remain in the conversation until resolved by an admin. Once resolved, the button will be enabled again. If deleted by an admin, the content will no longer appear in the conversation.
Advice > Questions & Answers:
Navigation: Community > Advice > Questions & Answers
Alert! Remember, only replies to questions can be reported, not the question that started the conversation.
Advice > Articles:
Navigation: Community > Advice > Articles
Alert! Unlike 'Questions and Answers', articles can be reported as well as replies to articles.
