The best community conversations start with someone answering a question they happened to see. The hard part is the seeing, and a thoughtful post can sit unread simply because no one knew it was there.
This release brings discussion board activity to members where they already spend their day: new topics and replies now trigger a Slack or Teams notification, newly created topics appear in the digest email, and notification links drop members onto the exact post instead of the top of the thread. Fewer missed conversations, and a shorter path from noticing to participating.
Applicable For
Programs and communities with the Discussion Board / Forums feature enabled
Slack and Teams notifications require your organization's BotApps (Slack/Teams) workspace integration to be connected
Digest email and post-link improvements apply to all programs with Discussion Boards enabled, whether or not BotApps is connected
No new admin configuration is introduced in this release
How It Works
Member Experience
Slack and Teams notifications for discussion board activity. Members receive a Slack or Teams notification when a new topic is created or a new post or reply is added in a discussion board they can access. Each notification names the author, the topic title, and the forum, along with a View conversation or View post button that links straight to the item.
Notifications honor the permissions and preferences already in place:
Members are only notified about topics and posts their content-access permissions allow them to see
Delivery follows each recipient's existing Slack or Teams channel notification preferences
New topics now appear in the digest email. The digest includes a "Started a new conversation" card for newly created topics — closing a gap where only posts and comments surfaced, and topic creation didn't appear at all.
Links land on the post, not the top of the thread. Following a notification or digest link that points to a specific post now auto-scrolls directly to that post on the discussion board, so members don't have to hunt through a long conversation to find what they were notified about.
Admin Experience
There's nothing new to configure. The behavior builds on setup you likely already have in place:
Slack and Teams notifications depend on the org-level BotApps (Slack/Teams) workspace integration being connected — if it isn't, members simply continue receiving discussion board notifications through their existing channels
All delivery follows members' existing notification and digest preferences, so no one is opted into anything new
